We know first hand the joy and positive impact a successful business can have on your life, along with the lives of employees and the broader community. We also know just how hard and how lonely building a business can be.

We have experienced the burn-out, overwhelm and stress that comes with building a business. We know how frustrating it can be when you can see the opportunity there, but just can't quite unlock it.

This is why Nigel Standish created StandishCo. His own experience taught him that there is no guaranteed formula for success and that one cannot build a business alone, whether it is a startup, or an established business. Having access to and drawing on specialist experience and expertise are fundamental steps in the journey.

Meet Nigel Standish – Founder and Principal

Bachelor of Economics (Adel. Uni) | Member - Chartered Accountants ANZ

Nigel began his career as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Australia and then Europe, before moving into management consulting to work with businesses on strategy and systems improvement.

His first move into the corporate world was joining a US publishing company as its CFO. Here he worked closely with the CEO to rapidly expand the company's operations and develop a network of business publications across Europe with operations in multiple countries.

Upon returning to Australia, Nigel was sought out for his media experience, becoming a founding member of the executive team at Solstice Media and launching The Independent Weekly and Indaily media titles. Joining the business in its pre-start-up phase, Nigel was involved in all aspects of strategy development, investor presentations, capital raising, recruitment and establishment of systems and procedures. From launch he had direct responsibility for all non-editorial functions and general business strategy, reporting to the CEO and Board.

Nigel’s passion for growing businesses continued in his role as Commercial Director with the Flinders University commercialisation team, where he worked with University researchers to identify opportunities and create new businesses. This led to a CEO position for a spin-out company in the e-commerce space where over a 3 year period the business was repositioned, technology development completed and customers acquired, resulting in the company being sold to a larger competitor.

After successfully working for investors to deliver business growth that led to the sale of multiple businesses, Nigel went on to have the rewarding experience of owning his own business and creating many others with passionate clients shareholders and co-owners.

As a Chartered Accountant and member of the Trusted Advisor Network, a 50 strong association of professional business advisors across Australia and NZ, Nigel blends proven methodologies with his own experience and knowledge to deliver outstanding results for StandishCo clients.
